What an Answer Removes
Better answers can leave people with fewer ways to be useful to one another.

At a puzzle night, a guest who reads aloud from the answer key at the start can produce a perfect score and still be asked to stop.
You can reject a shortcut without disputing its accuracy: it may remove the ways you were useful to one another. An unfinished problem gives one person a detail to remember, another a guess to test, another an error to catch. Nobody has to solve the whole thing to supply something the others need. Once the answer arrives, everyone can stay, talk, even enjoy themselves. Sharing an answer is not the same as needing one another to find it.
Research seeks answers nobody possesses, not answers deliberately withheld for entertainment. Finding them can benefit people who never participate in producing them. A mathematician can want a theorem proved, believe a machine capable of proving it, and still resist receiving its proof. One colleague no longer has a lemma to establish; another no longer has a gap to repair. Checking, explaining, and extending the proof remain real work. But the people who can contribute to those tasks are not necessarily the people who would have helped construct it.
Consider a senior researcher who teaches a difficult technique and decides which students are ready to use it. Keeping that technique indispensable can protect both a genuine collaboration and the researcher's control over who joins. A tool that lets a student proceed without the senior researcher's help may end an apprenticeship, remove a barrier to entry, or both. It may also settle routine questions so the group can attempt harder ones. Preserving cooperation and preserving an insider's authority can be the same act, not competing explanations.
Receiving an answer need not remove every reason to work together. It can remove the reason others needed your particular contribution.
